It Took Me 15 Years to Break This Pattern
May 21, 2026

TL;DR: This Week in Flourish Weekly
â Freedom doesnât come from hustle and perfectionism
â I broke a 15-year pattern, and it had NOTHING to do with therapy
â Spoiler-alert: my biz coach was involved (and heâs hosting a FREE training about it)
Kia ora {{first_name}},
Why is it that some people are able to âdo it allââŚ
Run a successful business, rock the leadership role, embody the gold standard of motherhoodâŚ
While others feel like theyâre constantly dropping the ball somewhere?
You might be currently in the corporate space, but youâre starting to get that itch thatâs telling you âyou have more to give to the worldâ.
Or maybe, youâve been full-time parenting for so long you forgot what itâs like to have an adult conversation, but going back to a 9-5 is too much of a leap.
Or, perhaps, like me⌠you are a coach, expert, or creator and already have a digital business, but youâre struggling to make any actual progress because youâre still redesigning your website for the 50th time (trust me â been there, done that).
What if the answer wasnât more disciplineâŚ
or better time managementâŚ
or even doing more?
What if it was something far simpler and FAR more powerful?
This week, I want to share a shift that completely changed my life:
âThe more structure you have in your business, the more freedom you have in your life.â â James W. Wedmore
At first, I resisted this (even though I LOVE structure, systems, and processes!).
So let me show you what actually changed everything for meâŚ
Let me take you back to the year 2000.
Five-year-old me, sitting at a piano for the very first time (reluctantly).
Because honestly⌠who wants to practise scales when Barbie dolls exist?
And yet⌠something clicked.
Over time, I fell in love with it.
The sound.
The feeling of my fingers moving across the keys.
The quiet focus it invited.

Fast-forward a decadeâŚ
Life got busy. Loud. Social.
The piano faded into the background.
Fast-forward another decadeâŚ
And there I was, sitting on my therapistâs soft, woollen couch, trying to âschedule time to playâ.
Not because I didnât love it, but because I didnât have space for it.
My life was full. Definitely not in the way that felt nourishing. At that point, my âAchieverâ archetype was running the show.
Everything was driven by urgency, pressure, and output.
And trying to force something like piano back into my life?
It didnât work.
Not for YEARS.
Until something completely unexpected shifted everything.
Enter: my business coach, James Wedmore.
Sure, he might be a digital business owner with 2 decadesâ worth of experience, and an expert at all things sales & marketing⌠but WTF do any of those have to do with me playing the piano?
I thought the same.
But ever since I met James, he kept repeating one sentence.
âThe more structure you have in your business, the more freedom you have in your life.â
Over and over again.
And at first? I resisted.
Questioned it.
Pushed against it.
âSurely it couldnât be THAT easy.â
Until eventually⌠I decided to trust it. So I implemented his teachingsâŚ
And what happened nextâŚ
I didnât expect.
Slowly, things began to shift.
I started taking weekends off again for the first time in YEARS.
I became more present. Not just physically there, but really noticing the little thingsâŚ
Like Piper twitching in her sleep beside me as I write this (clearly chasing something exciting in her dreams đž).
And then⌠something I hadnât done in over 15 years happened.
I sat down at the piano.
And as my fingers touched the keys⌠I didnât feel like the overwhelmed adult trying to âfit it inâ.
I felt like her again.
The five-year-old girl.
Light. Free. Playful.
No pressure. No deadlines. Just presence.
Thatâs when I truly understood:
Structure didnât take my freedom away.
It gave it back.
Thanks, James.

Now, you might be thinking, âBut Vik⌠I donât even have a business. How does this apply to me?â
I hear you.
I thought the same thing at first.
But hereâs what Iâve come to realise:
This isnât about business.
Itâs about how you live.
The most valuable lessons I have learned from James are far from business-related. Even the structure one. It applies to your corporate job. It applies to your home life. It applies to your planning.
Because structure isnât rigid rules.
Itâs supportive systems.
Itâs creating containers that allow you to:
-
Focus your energy
-
Make aligned decisions
-
And actually follow through
Whether thatâs in your work, your home, or your personal life.
These are what I like to call âcapital T Truths.â
They apply EVERYWHERE.
Hereâs what shifted for me, and what it might unlock for you:
â I stopped âwinging itâ and started treating my goals seriously
â Results require aligned action
â I asked for support BEFORE I felt ready
â You donât have to do this alone
â I created and launched an offer that lived in my head for years
â Clarity comes from action, not thinking
â I built systems and processes
â Structure = freedom
â I found my people
â Youâre not meant to do this all alone
And honestlyâŚ
Iâm only just getting started.
So hereâs the question for you:
Will you keep relying on motivation, perfectionism, and hustle⌠or will you step into a new way of operating?
One that supports you and moves you forward CONSISTENTLY.
If youâre ready for thatâŚ
I want to personally invite you to something special.
James is hosting a FREE 3-Day Live Training: The Business Breakthrough Experience.
It is hands-down the most valuable free training I have EVER experienced. I kid you not.
In just three days, I created more momentum than I had in years of trying to do it alone.
So if thereâs even a small part of you thatâs curiousâŚ
Because a year from nowâŚ
Youâll either be in the same place, or living a completely different reality.
And that choice starts here.
To your inevitable success,

P.S. James Wedmoreâs Business Breakthrough Experience is the best live training you will ever attend. Yes, there are replays available.
