It Took Me 15 Years to Break This Pattern
May 21, 2026

TL;DR: This Week in Flourish Weekly
ā Freedom doesnāt come from hustle and perfectionism
ā I broke a 15-year pattern, and it had NOTHING to do with therapy
ā Spoiler-alert: my biz coach was involved (and heās hosting a FREE training about it)
Kia ora {{first_name}},
Why is it that some people are able to ādo it allāā¦
Run a successful business, rock the leadership role, embody the gold standard of motherhoodā¦
While others feel like theyāre constantly dropping the ball somewhere?
You might be currently in the corporate space, but youāre starting to get that itch thatās telling you āyou have more to give to the worldā.
Or maybe, youāve been full-time parenting for so long you forgot what itās like to have an adult conversation, but going back to a 9-5 is too much of a leap.
Or, perhaps, like me⦠you are a coach, expert, or creator and already have a digital business, but youāre struggling to make any actual progress because youāre still redesigning your website for the 50th time (trust me ā been there, done that).
What if the answer wasnāt more disciplineā¦
or better time managementā¦
or even doing more?
What if it was something far simpler and FAR more powerful?
This week, I want to share a shift that completely changed my life:
āThe more structure you have in your business, the more freedom you have in your life.ā ā James W. Wedmore
At first, I resisted this (even though I LOVE structure, systems, and processes!).
So let me show you what actually changed everything for meā¦
Let me take you back to the year 2000.
Five-year-old me, sitting at a piano for the very first time (reluctantly).
Because honestly⦠who wants to practise scales when Barbie dolls exist?
And yet⦠something clicked.
Over time, I fell in love with it.
The sound.
The feeling of my fingers moving across the keys.
The quiet focus it invited.

Fast-forward a decadeā¦
Life got busy. Loud. Social.
The piano faded into the background.
Fast-forward another decadeā¦
And there I was, sitting on my therapistās soft, woollen couch, trying to āschedule time to playā.
Not because I didnāt love it, but because I didnāt have space for it.
My life was full. Definitely not in the way that felt nourishing. At that point, my āAchieverā archetype was running the show.
Everything was driven by urgency, pressure, and output.
And trying to force something like piano back into my life?
It didnāt work.
Not for YEARS.
Until something completely unexpected shifted everything.
Enter: my business coach, James Wedmore.
Sure, he might be a digital business owner with 2 decadesā worth of experience, and an expert at all things sales & marketing⦠but WTF do any of those have to do with me playing the piano?
I thought the same.
But ever since I met James, he kept repeating one sentence.
āThe more structure you have in your business, the more freedom you have in your life.ā
Over and over again.
And at first? I resisted.
Questioned it.
Pushed against it.
āSurely it couldnāt be THAT easy.ā
Until eventually⦠I decided to trust it. So I implemented his teachingsā¦
And what happened nextā¦
I didnāt expect.
Slowly, things began to shift.
I started taking weekends off again for the first time in YEARS.
I became more present. Not just physically there, but really noticing the little thingsā¦
Like Piper twitching in her sleep beside me as I write this (clearly chasing something exciting in her dreams š¾).
And then⦠something I hadnāt done in over 15 years happened.
I sat down at the piano.
And as my fingers touched the keys⦠I didnāt feel like the overwhelmed adult trying to āfit it inā.
I felt like her again.
The five-year-old girl.
Light. Free. Playful.
No pressure. No deadlines. Just presence.
Thatās when I truly understood:
Structure didnāt take my freedom away.
It gave it back.
Thanks, James.

Now, you might be thinking, āBut Vik⦠I donāt even have a business. How does this apply to me?ā
I hear you.
I thought the same thing at first.
But hereās what Iāve come to realise:
This isnāt about business.
Itās about how you live.
The most valuable lessons I have learned from James are far from business-related. Even the structure one. It applies to your corporate job. It applies to your home life. It applies to your planning.
Because structure isnāt rigid rules.
Itās supportive systems.
Itās creating containers that allow you to:
-
Focus your energy
-
Make aligned decisions
-
And actually follow through
Whether thatās in your work, your home, or your personal life.
These are what I like to call ācapital T Truths.ā
They apply EVERYWHERE.
Hereās what shifted for me, and what it might unlock for you:
ā I stopped āwinging itā and started treating my goals seriously
ā Results require aligned action
ā I asked for support BEFORE I felt ready
ā You donāt have to do this alone
ā I created and launched an offer that lived in my head for years
ā Clarity comes from action, not thinking
ā I built systems and processes
ā Structure = freedom
ā I found my people
ā Youāre not meant to do this all alone
And honestlyā¦
Iām only just getting started.
So hereās the question for you:
Will you keep relying on motivation, perfectionism, and hustle⦠or will you step into a new way of operating?
One that supports you and moves you forward CONSISTENTLY.
If youāre ready for thatā¦
I want to personally invite you to something special.
James is hosting a FREE 3-Day Live Training: The Business Breakthrough Experience.
It is hands-down the most valuable free training I have EVER experienced. I kid you not.
In just three days, I created more momentum than I had in years of trying to do it alone.
So if thereās even a small part of you thatās curiousā¦
Because a year from nowā¦
Youāll either be in the same place, or living a completely different reality.
And that choice starts here.
