You're Allowed to Change Your Plan

✅ What happened when I tried to plan out my entire life for the very first time (and what it taught me)
✅ The big ol' elephant in the room that stops most women from seeing the big picture
✅ The exact template I use with my clients, ready for you to grab
Hi {{first_name}},
You won't believe what happened when I tried to plan out my life for the very first time.
I'm not talking a year, or even 10 years.
The whole enchilada.
Today, I'm going to show you why it's absolutely crucial to start with your "Dream Life" plan before any other form of planning (including that to-do list you keep trying to plough through 👀).
Plus, we'll talk about the big ol' elephant in the room that's likely stopping you from looking at the big picture of your life in the first place: CHANGE.
Oh, and I'm even going to give you the very template I use with my clients, who have declared this exercise one of the most transformative experiences in our work together.
So, let's begin...
Here's why you keep seeing the same cycle repeat itself every year: it's December, full of good intentions, and you buy a new planner. "This year is going to be it!"
You set your New Year's resolutions: gym 4 times a week, 30 grams of protein with every meal, meditate daily, read 1 book every month, stop doomscrolling at work – something along these lines. Sound familiar?
And then, before February even rolls around, 80% of those good intentions are out the window (including that leather-bound planner that's now joined the graveyard of half-started notebooks 📚).
The reason this keeps happening is simple: you're missing the big picture.
Your life plan.
Your DREAM life plan.
(spoiler alert: I'm about to rewrite mine.)
The Great Millennial Career Crisis
I'm in the middle of what some would call a "midlife crisis". Except it's not very "midlife" – I'm 30, for God's sake.
The only "mid" thing about this crisis is how it feels* (yup – I googled the Gen Z reference so I can hang with the cool kids).
But, as a triple Scorpio, I've had my fair share of existential crises which have led to more costume changes than a Broadway musical.
This one hits different, though.
Because I see it playing out for you, too.
Women are questioning their entire careers.
Millennials, especially, are realising that the "pot of gold" we were chasing keeps moving further and further away, and we've been sprinting so fast in the meantime... that we missed the whole rainbow in the process.
You're tired, you're over it, you want your life to look different – but you're not quite sure what that means.
Yet.
If any of this rings true for you, you're not alone. The Great Millennial Career Crisis is well underway. And as terrifying, debilitating, and confusing as this time may feel – there is a way through.
That doesn't make it any less crap-my-pants-alicious, though.
Change is scary AF. Of course you don't want to uproot your entire life in the *hopes* of something better.
At least you KNOW what you have now. But out there... in the unknown? (cue Elsa from Frozen 🎶)
The unknown? That's unfamiliar, uncertain, and... to your brain and nervous system (i.e. the primal survival instinct in you), it's unsafe.
This is why so many women stay in a job they hate, give up on the dream they once had, or suffer through a relationship that fizzled out long ago.
Because what's on the other side of that is "unsafe".
If you only walk away with one thing from this newsletter, let it be this:
Your nervous system will always choose a familiar hell over an unfamiliar heaven.
The first time this landed for me, my mind was blown.
The antidote to staying stuck in a rut and settling for a safe but "good enough" life?
Planning your DREAM life.
The Plan I Had to Cross Out
What you're about to receive is something I usually only share with my high-level clients.
Most people won't do this.
I can only hope that you, {{first_name}}, are not "most people".
You see, the reason most people keep repeating the same vicious cycle (new planner, new resolutions, same results) is because they're not looking at the BIG picture.
When you zoom out and see your whole life on one pane of glass, get clear on what truly matters to you, and decide how you want to spend your short time on Planet Earth... then, and only then, can you build a great plan.
The kind that makes sure your "today" matches the "tomorrow" you want to live into.
Now, before you think "But Vik, I don't even know what I want right now, let alone for my entire life!"... I hear you, and I can see why that feels like a problem.
I also know from first-hand experience (and my clients' results) that the ideas start to flow as soon as you put pen to paper, and the "not knowing" is your Ego's last-ditch effort to keep you in the old, familiar hell.
If you're like some, you might worry that a life plan is too rigid and restrictive. After all, who are we to predict the magic the Universe has in store for us?
To that, I want to tell you about the first time I planned out my life using the exact template you're about to receive (the one I now call the "Plan Your Dream Life" process).
It was 2019. I was in an emotionally abusive relationship. The plan I mapped out was a reflection of my ex's vision of the woman he wanted me to be (think Desperate Housewives meets Gossip Girl). I was blind to it at the time.
BUT, the process illuminated what wasn't working.
Then, COVID happened.
And the rest is history.
Did I or did I not cross out ~88.8% of my very first life plan?
Take a guess.
Absolute carnage. 🫣
And yet, despite the entire world crumbling beneath my feet as I pulled myself out of that messy breakup, I had something that gave me structure to keep going:
My "Plan Your Dream Life" template.
It was confronting at first. Crossing everything out and practically reinventing myself.
Despite all the uncertainty, that was the moment I realised:
A great plan isn't static. Instead, it grows and evolves with you.
I was no longer the girl trying to be the perfect housewife while crying in the bedroom at night.
I suddenly had the permission slip to be 100%, unapologetically me.
What Does Your Dream Life Look Like?
So, if you're standing at a crossroads in your life and need help uncovering what's next, take a step back before you make your next move and map out YOUR dream life.
Are you going to be the woman who buys another planner in December, or the one who finally maps out the life she actually wants?
I'm about to go through this process myself. In fact, I'm going to take myself through the entire curriculum of my coaching programme, Efficiency Made Easy, because I know it can get me out of this rut I'm in.
My only hope is that you won't be like "most people".
Instead of doomscrolling tonight, carve out 10 minutes and start mapping out what you want the rest of your life to look like.
Because the pot of gold isn't coming.
It was about the rainbow all along. 🌈
To living your dream life,

P.S. Don't take my word for it.
See for yourself what my clients had to say about the Plan Your Dream Life process.
"That part felt deeply transformational because it created so much clarity and self-awareness. Instead of jumping straight into 'doing more', I first understood what actually matters to me, why it matters, and what kind of life I want to build."
- Ewa Sigmund
"These are the greatest concepts I have encountered in the last 20 years. I wish we were taught this in high school."
- Rob Taras
"I particularly enjoyed the module where we focused on the 'Plan Your Dream Life' process. It put my limited time on earth into perspective and encouraged me to think more intentionally about what truly matters to me and the key things I want to focus on in life."
- Sophie Kim
"This helped me really zoom out, see my whole life on one pane of glass, and see how all the parts were fitting together. I feel like I'm seeing what's actually happening with clear vision now, and I can make better decisions about it. I was scrambling on a hamster wheel before, just like, 'get it done, get it done'."
- Gillian Jakob Kieser
P.P.S. *I'm not even sure I used the "mid" reference right. If you speak Gen Z, can you please reply to this email and put me out of my misery?
P.P.P.S. Are you constantly pushing yourself to do more, achieve more and stay productive... even when your energy is telling you to slow down?
In this week's episode of Resonance, I break down the Cycles of Success: the four phases of success, why rest is an essential part of productivity, and how to stop working against the season you're in.
