When The Plan Doesn’t Go To Plan
August 06, 2026

✅ Two of my recent launches did not go to plan.
✅ Instead of rushing into another strategy, I chose to pause.
✅ A meaningful plan begins with a clear vision of what “done” looks like.
✅ You do not need every single answer today… you need an anchor for where you are going.
✅ And… I’m hosting a session at the Beyond Burnout Virtual Summit, you’re invited! Click here to save your seat (replays available to registrants).
Hi {{first_name}},
Setting a “SMART” goal is not always as smart as it sounds.
Keep reading, and I’ll show you what actually works instead (and why it’s giving me peace during one of the most uncertain chapters of my business so far).
Because if you are reading this newsletter, chances are you recognise at least one of these:
-
You have BIG goals but struggle to turn them into reality.
-
You never seem to have enough time to “fit it all in”.
-
Your to-do list keeps growing, even though you are already moving at full speed.
-
There is a quiet whisper inside you saying, “I’m meant for so. much. more. than this…”
And you’ve probably tried to solve it.
The beautiful planner. The earlier mornings. The carefully written SMART goals that disappear the moment an urgent deadline arrives.
“Yoga class? What yoga class?!?!?!?!”
Before you decide that you just have to try harder, be more disciplined, or that you’ll figure it out yourself *one day*…
I get it. I’ve been there.
I know that it can feel like you’re banging your head against a brick wall, with no end in sight, thinking, “I don’t know how much longer I can keep going like this”.
If pushing harder were the answer, it would have worked by now.
The fact that you’ve already *tried all the things* is actually a GOOD thing, because it means that you care. Deeply.
You care, which means that you are willing to change for the better way.
An easier way. A more intentional way. A more joyful way.
One that has you wake up with a ZING! ⚡️ in the morning, rather than wishing you could crawl back into bed for the next three years.
Which brings me to the experience that inspired today’s newsletter:
Yet. Another. “Failed”. Launch.
When the Plan Doesn’t Go to Plan
First, I want to say thank you.
Whether you have been here since Day 1 or have only recently entered my world, I do not take your time or attention for granted.
Every newsletter you receive from me begins with a real human sitting down (that’s me!), reflecting, and writing heart-to-heart.
And this week, my heart has a little more to say than usual.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re constantly working but getting nowhere, chances are, you can relate to this story…
Last week, I opened the doors to The Time Back Hub: a new offer designed to help busy women use AI to reclaim time in both work and life.
And nobody joined.
For the fourth time this year, it felt as though I had prepared the room, put out the snacks, chosen the playlist…
…and nobody came to the party.
✔️ Inner critic: activated.
✔️ Self-doubt: accelerated.
✔️ Heartbreak: initiated.
I have spent the last few days somewhere between “This is about to take off.” and “Maybe I should blow the whole thing up”.
Here is what you need to know about me: I am the planning, efficiency, and organisation queen. 👑
I usually have the next launch mapped out before the current one has even finished.
This year, however, has placed more unexpected bends in the road than I could have ever imagined.
My friend Léa asked: “How many times have you replanned your year now?”
Seven. And I am preparing for number eight.
But this time felt different. Instead of immediately throwing myself into the next launch, the next strategy, or the next thing to “fix”…
I paused.
I deliberately created space in my calendar. I rested.
I let myself feel disappointed without turning that disappointment into another urgent project.
And even as I write this, I do not have a perfectly polished answer for what comes next.
For someone whose Type A brain thrives on certainty, structure, and forward motion, that is no small thing.
I am choosing to spend a little time in the unknown.
The Vision Beneath the Goal
Traditional, linear productivity advice would say, “Set a SMART goal. Hustle bro. Push, push, and push again.”
But a perfectly written goal means nothing if it’s taking you somewhere you’re not meant to (or don’t want to) go.
Which is why I’ve been shouting this from the rooftops for as long as I can remember, and I’ll keep banging this drum…
Always, always, always BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND.
Because the quality of your plan shapes the quality of your results.
And the clearer you are on what “done” looks like, the better equipped you are to create a meaningful path towards it.
That clarity is my anchor right now. I may not know the exact shape of my next offer. I may not know which launch strategy I will use.
But I know what I am building, and WHY.
I am building a business that helps high-achieving people reconnect with who they truly are, so they can create lives aligned with their deepest values and desires.
Lives that are no longer dictated by burnout, external expectations, or circumstances that leave them feeling trapped in the “golden handcuffs”.
I am here to help people bring their biggest, wildest, most meaningful ideas to life… without sacrificing themselves in the process.
Because if the dream is IN you… it is FOR you!
Clarity + Courage + Aligned Action = …
More time, less hustle.
More play, less work.
More joy, less stress.
That is the destination. The route is still a work-in-progress. The destination has always been crystal clear.
And that is the real purpose of a strong plan.
Not to control every detail, but to help you remember where you are going when the path becomes unclear.
Why This Matters
For too long, work has asked us to trade away the parts of life that matter most.
-
Parents missing precious moments for deadlines they will barely remember.
-
Partners sitting beside one another while their minds remain trapped inside work.
-
People achieving impressive things, only to arrive at the finish line and wonder: “Was that it?”
I do not believe our lives were designed to become an endless exchange of hours for dollars.
We deserve time for the people we love.
Time for creativity.
Time for nature, music, movement, laughter, rest, and all the small moments that make life feel like it’s truly ours.
This is about INTENTIONAL life design.
How I translate that vision into a predictable, sustainable, and profitable business is for me to figure out… and that’s not an answer I need to have in this exact moment.
You Don’t Need Every Answer Yet
Perhaps you don’t need to have every answer right now, either.
Instead of forcing yourself to create the picture-perfect SMART goal, begin here:
What does “done” look like?
WHY does it matter to you?
What will achieving it allow you to feel, experience, or become?
Let that vision become your anchor.
Your plans will evolve. Your timeline will shift.
You might take seven detours and replan the year an eighth time… which does NOT = failure.
It simply means you’re letting your plan evolve with you.
In the meantime, I would love to invite you to a free virtual summit I am taking part in:
This experience is for leaders, professionals, and caregivers who feel overwhelmed, overextended, or stretched too thin.

It is free to attend, and replays will be available (only if you’ve registered).
See you in the Zoom room.
To your inevitable successs,

P.S. In this week’s episode of Resonance, I am taking you behind the scenes of one of my most vulnerable business experiences: a launch that did not go to plan.
I share the eight-step framework I use to set and achieve meaningful goals, the lessons I took from hosting 14 masterclasses that led to zero sales, and why I now believe the goal was never really the goal.
